Orthopaedic Acupuncture

Targeted support for muscles, joints, and movement

Auriculotherapy is a healthcare modality in which the external surface of the ear, or auricle, is stimulated to alleviate pathological conditions in other parts of the body. While originally based upon the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture, the somatotopic corespondence of speific parts of the body to specific parts of the ear was first developed in modern France. Its an integrated system of Chinses and Western practices of auriculotherapy.

How orthopaedic acupuncture works

Orthopaedic Acupuncture is a specialised style of acupuncture that focuses on the musculoskeletal system, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and nerves.

Treatment involves the precise placement of fine, sterile needles in areas related to pain, tension, or restricted movement. These points may be local (near the area of concern)
and distal (elsewhere in the body) to help:

  • Improve local circulation

  • Reduce muscle tension and trigger points

  • Support joint mobility and alignment

  • Encourage the body’s natural healing response

From a modern perspective, orthopaedic acupuncture is understood to influence the nervous system, muscle function, and blood flow, which may help reduce discomfort and improve movement.
